Merry Christmas and thank you!

Happy Christmas

What a year 2021 has been! We have seen more challenges than ever this year, and yet so many of us have pulled together to support each other.

This year we are so pleased to let you know we have raised funds to help at least 50 Girls get back to school and supported 20 families throughout the lockdown in Fiji. We’ve also sold almost 200 Christmas cakes and still have our handmade wooden toys and virtual gift cards which are available in our shop for Christmas gifts

We also rebranded and launched a new website to help make your user experience easier and more streamlined, all this was achieved while many of us managed homeschooling, remote working, studying and the ongoing challenges of living in an extended lockdown.

I’m pleased to say that many of the Girls we work with are doing well and 17 had access to internet data this year because of your generous support.

We supported Girls like Ana Grace whose single mother wanted to send her back to school but couldn’t afford the uniform, bag or shoes. Without those items Ana Grace couldn’t attend her local school, so we not only provided them this year but we also supported her mother in improving her market vending business.

We also worked with four sisters who were on the verge of dropping out of school – Shivangni, Aanya, Tanya and Dipshika. Their father passed away and the family needed support, the eldest was in Year 12 and the youngest was in Year 2, their mother was heavily pregnant and wasn’t able to work. We provided them with shoes, bags and uniforms, and we also gave them groceries to ensure the Girls were attending school with full stomachs and able to concentrate. We have just received an update and they all performed well in school this year and had above average results – such a heartwarming outcome despite their challenging circumstances.

We will continue to fundraise in the lead up to Christmas and your donations are always welcome. COVID19 has affected so many families in Fiji and there is a greater need now more than ever before, so every donation counts.

Special thanks to our great friends the German International School Sydney for raising $1515 for us over the last few weeks! We’d like to give a big shout out to Elle, Mia, Jeslyn and Charlotte for organising the annual Dare the Bosses event. Check out the photo below!

If you haven’t already seen the beautiful handmade wooden toys, take a look now – they are a gorgeous gift that the kids love and they really make a difference.

Next year we will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary! It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come and we are planning a range of celebrations throughout the year. If you (or anyone you know!) is interested in hosting a charity fundraising event to support our small organisation, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us via email, we love hearing from you!

Thank you again for all your support this year, if you’re not already following us, check us out on FacebookInstagram or LinkedIn where we post our latest updates and you’ll see all the exciting things we have planned for 2022.

Have a lovely holiday break!
