This week the UN released a report stating that 20,000 girls under 18 in developing countries give birth EVERYDAY. The majority of these girls are under 15 and nine out of ten are the result of a marriage or union.
I have a 16 year old. Many of you have teenage or pre teen girls too. It is devastating to imagine our babies having sex forced upon them and married so young when their whole lives are ahead of them.
The longer girls stay in school, the less likely they are to marry young. The stats in our pic state that when a girl receives 7+ years of education she marries 4 years later and has 2 fewer children.
